Tokunoshima (徳之島町 Tokunoshima-chō?) is a town in Ōshima District, Kagoshima, Japan. It is located on the island of Tokunoshima.

As of 2008, it has an estimated population of 12,656 and the density of 121 persons per km². The total area of the city is 104.87 km².

Shigechiyo Izumi (June 29, 1865 – February 21, 1986) is the person with the second longest recorded human lifespan in history, after Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment. He was born in Tokunoshima and died at the age of 120 years 237 days. However, Izumi's case might be false. He might had been born in 1880 and possibly died at the age of 105.

Tokunoshima Airport serves the city.
